🌿 IHALA KOTTE 🌿

💦 This can be seen on the Kanda Udarata Railway about 200 meters from the Ihala Kotte Railway Station between Rambukkana and  Kadugannawa Railway Stations towards Colombo. This is a must visit place when climbing  Alagalla Hill. Because the beauty here  is important both manually and historical. There was no such thing as Ihala kotte when the kandy railway was built up to in the past English era.
Instead, there had a way by the side of mountain in out of the tunnel. 'Meeyan Ella' is located just below the railroad tracks. There is no railway but there are ruins.
💦 'Meeyan Ella' is an obstruction to the railroad. At times (especially during the rainy season), rail traffic is also disrupted. Because of this, the English cut and changed the top of this waterfall and made it fall into two waterfalls. At the same time, the stone inside was dug up and made to fall like a drain. 🌿

💦  It was a very high waterfall before the Meeyan Ella broke. It is said to be a tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka in the past. To see the water fall heights you have to go to the village    of Makhelwala village below.
Now the water level here is low. Most of the water flows only during the rainy season. It is said that there was a lot of water here in the past. This may be due to deforestation over time.
A small window can be seen at Meeyan Ella. It is an air vent that carries air inside the tunnel.
Ihala Kotte 5A tunnel is a very longest tunnel.  This is currently the third longest tunnel in Sri Lanka. 🌿

Coming along the binge towards Colombo, there  is a small window about 2 meters above on the left. But to get to this you need to get permission from the station and have an idea of the train come and going.

💦  Don't forget to get permission from the  train station before going here. Also avoid destroying the environment. 😍🌳
