"Sunil Edirisinghe is a singer with a thoughtful, powerful personality. He has mastered a style of singing that is unique to him. Before presenting the Vagathuga on Edirisinghe, I will make the following comment. This talented artist named Patrick Kirige Sunil Jayapreethi Edirisinghe was born on December 19, 1949 in Colombo. His father Patkirige Edirisinghe is the youngest in a family of three brothers and four sisters.

In 1955 he entered Sri Dharmaloka College, Kelaniya for basic education. Even at a young age, he showed various talents in the field of singing. His achievements in inter-school singing competitions are a prime example. The young Edirisinghes entered Sapugaskanda Maha Vidyalaya and later the Delgoda Kalyanapradeepa Pirivena for education at an early age. He stepped out as a singer.

Due to this interest, Edirisinghe decided to learn more about music. Nandasiri entered the Music Academy of Dr. Later he appeared for the first examination at the Bhatkhand Music Faculty in Lucknow, India and obtained a first class pass.

Sunil Edirisinghe also sang in the background for the films 'Hulawali' and 'Sri Madara'. He also passed the Masters Examination and the Diploma Examination at the Bhatkhand Faculty of Musicology, India. In addition, Edirisinghe passed the radio music test in 1975 as a simple singer and in 1977 sang several songs for a commercial album.
